Athletics Investments LLC
Latest entity vetted, from the middle of 2016
Figures as of 2016 termsThe last of the entities to be added to this desk, vetted from the middle of 2016 and led by Alex Sonice, a sports handicapper and computer engineer who built his own model for handling large data sets. Positions were hand selected and the daily wager amount was capped to limit exposure.
Athletics Investments was the only vetted entity to aim explicitly at smaller investors, and it did so by splitting into two tiers. The high-limit short-term fund carried a minimum of 1,000; the low-limit short-term fund carried a minimum of 50.
The low-limit tier ran on a weekend cycle: investors opted in between Monday and Friday, the fund went active on Saturday morning and placed positions through Sunday evening, and the fund was liquidated and redistributed on Sunday night. Funds covered NFL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB, MLB, UFC and NHL among others, and positions were only accepted during the advertised period and held for the season.
The entity published its own site at athleticsinvestments.com and its registration could be looked up through the Nevada Secretary of State entity search. Both are recorded here as sources only.
